Since 2003, the Kanagawa University of Human Services (KUHS) in Japan has been conducting an international scholarship programme to receive overseas students.
Besides offering students an opportunity to further their education on a full scholarship, the programme also aims to develop mutual understanding between Kanagawa Prefecture and its friendly regions, and to ultimately cultivate talent who will return to contribute to their own state or region’s development.
The programme typically selects two students from the Liaoning Province of China, and two from the Gyeonggi Province of Korea. For the 2012 programme, two students from Penang will also be selected.
The Penang Institute has been tasked with coordination at the local level. Thus, we would like to announce that we are now accepting applications from Penangites aged between 17 and 30 as of 1 April 2012 (those born between 2 April 1981 and 1 April 1995), in particular those interested in the fields of public health, medical care and social welfare. Successful applicants must express willingness to come back to contribute to the state of Penang. Candidates with good command of Japanese language will be given prior consideration.
Interested individuals are asked to submit their applications to Penang Institute via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or via fax (04-226 7042) before 10th April 2012. Further information can be obtained from our website www.penanginstitute.org.
